People at the centre: UFI Filters talks about itself in its first sustainability report

UFI Filters, a leader in filtration and thermal management systems, releases its first Sustainability Report, edition 2021, on the occasion of its 50th anniversary. The report is a fundamental milestone that is driving the Group’s business towards a model of sustainable development, with a specific attention to people and to corporate social responsibility.

UFI Filters believes in a business ethic of continuous improvement and mutual respect, which begins inside the Company and extends to customers and suppliers with equal importance. Furthermore, the Group’s primary object is preserving our planet’s natural resources. For this reason UFI Filters is constantly engaged in research and implementation of solutions that guarantee maximum respect for the environment – providing technologically advanced systems which are able to reduce energy consumption and CO2 emissions. These driving factors have led the company to publish its first Sustainability Report, an important step that demonstrates its commitment to all stakeholders in providing a precise report on environmental, social and governance issues relating to corporate responsibility.

In particular, the focus of this first edition is on people. “In a global trying moment people are making the difference, helping each other and overcoming difficulties together. This is the spirit that characterises our Group and our history,” explains UFI Filters Chairman, Giorgio Girondi.

A challenging global period is accelerating changes. UFI Filters has been able “to rise to the challenge and adapt thanks to the dedication and to the undying spirit of our people,” continues the President. This change, he believes, has also involved the business. “UFI Filters has adapted and enlarged its product range to be one of the leading global suppliers, also in thermal management and in vehicle electrification.”

The first Sustainability Report is edited following the Global Reporting Initiative (GRI) standard and is organised in six sections. It starts with the description of the business, before presenting the Group’s identity as a global organisation which is driven by the mantra: “Think Globally and Act Locally” and followed up by the Governance Structure.

It continues with the materiality assessment that has helped to define the main topics of the report and sustainability commitment, such as the establishing of a Safety Culture within collaborators. The report focuses on the global DNA and on the diversity, equity and inclusion policy of the Group. It is always attentive to the personal and professional development of people with specific talent programmes and trainings, up to the engagement on attractive working conditions, on charity initiatives, and last but not least, on sustainable innovation. Indeed, 39% of new business awarded projects by UFI Filters are electrified green vehicle applications. All this commitment is proven by the numerous certifications received by the Company, among which the IATF 16949.

Giorgio Girondi, Chairman of the UFI Filters Group, concludes: “We live in a world that needs to be preserved for our children and we want to declare our engagement with Sustainability and Corporate Social Responsibility. We want to inspire our friends and our people by issuing this first report, the first of many to come, as we ride together towards a new and exciting future.”
